‘A Cognitive VR Experience’ was the first cognitive hangout in the world to mix IBM Watson with Virtual Reality in real time. Watson is connected to Wikipedia and other databases, and through voice recognition and ‘his’ Iconic Jeopardy voice, users can engage in conversations that can go anywhere: from Rock N’ Roll to Genomics.
The installation used a local multi-user environment at MIT Media Lab, in a large scale 6dof (six degrees of freedom) experience, connected transcontinentally with Lobo in São Paulo in real time. There, a pianist with body tracking played live, and people at MIT Media Lab could hang out with him in a beautiful VR library bar with a number of different interactions and tracked objects (some 3d printed) for optimal haptic feedback and an enhanced sense of presence.
